Our story
A “Vandella” in folklore is a dream-invading ghost.
While pursuing our dream of winemaking, serendipity stepped in and led us to unearth a vintage cast-iron ghost that was buried beneath the vineyard floor. Naturally, the relic became our mascot.
Fueled by an unwavering passion to craft exceptional, standalone wines, we take our time, letting nature guide our process. Each grape cluster is hand-harvested by the winemakers and meticulously sorted in the vineyard, ensuring only the finest clusters make it into the bin. We then devote ourselves to an obsessive hands-on process, avoiding mechanical and chemical intervention as much as possible in order to fully embrace our philosophy that ontological energy and intention profoundly shape the final product. From vine to bottle, Vandella is committed to sustainable, natural, uncompromised growing and winemaking practices. The outcome is a harmonious blend of skill and soil, produced in partnership with Mother Earth.
What began as a modest two-barrel project in Paso Robles in 2011 has grown each year. In 2017, we proudly acquired our estate winery and vineyard in Napa, California.
